Since 2021, the historic-scale development of the Veszprém Castle Quarter has been underway. The renewal is timely, as the last comprehensive reconstruction in this area was around 250 years ago, in the Baroque era.
The large-scale project contributes to the strengthening of both the regional role and international recognition of the local community and the city of Veszprém. The reconstruction of the castle is simultaneously a project for religious life, tourism, and job creation. During the works, which will last until 2025, approximately 450 people work daily on the renewal of 18 historic buildings, 35,000 square meters of built-up area, and 10,000 square meters of open space.
The project is overseen by Castellum Asset Management Directorate, established as part of the Veszprém Archdiocese for the purpose of heritage conservation, development, and maintenance.
