Gardens

Approximately 10,000 square meters of open space, gardens, and courtyards will be renovated as part of the Castle Quarter project, lasting until 2025. Several green areas have already become accessible to visitors as part of the Gisela Days, starting from May 12th.

The gardens are highly influential and defining features within the castle complex. On the eastern side, they are nearly on the same level. These spaces will be revitalised with landscape and garden design techniques, supplemented by new plantings, complementing the internal functions housed within the buildings. The western side features a more delicate garden system made up of smaller elements.

The intention here is also to ensure the use of green areas and access to the rear gardens—some areas being accessible without obstacles, while others may require stairs—by the end of the development in 2025. Following the opening, the gardens of the Major Seminary, the Körmendy House, and the Biró-Giczey House will be the first to become visitable again.
