A veszpr\u00e9mi Bir\u00f3-Giczey H\u00e1zban egy igaz\u00e1n p\u00e1ratlan m\u0171alkot\u00e1s v\u00e1rja a l\u00e1togat\u00f3kat: a Szent Mih\u00e1ly-olt\u00e1rk\u00e9p a zalaszentmih\u00e1lyi templomb\u00f3l. Ez a festm\u00e9ny nem csup\u00e1n a hit \u00e9s a vall\u00e1si elk\u00f6telezetts\u00e9g szimb\u00f3luma, hanem a barokk m\u0171v\u00e9szet egyik gy\u00f6ngyszeme is, amelynek r\u00e9szletei mag\u00e1val ragad\u00f3 t\u00f6rt\u00e9neteket mes\u00e9lnek. A k\u00e9pet a XX. sz\u00e1zad elej\u00e9n m\u00e1solt\u00e1k le az eredeti festm\u00e9nyr\u0151l, \u00edgy tisztelegve a barokk remekm\u0171 el\u0151tt.<\/p>

The artistic value and composition<\/p>

At the centre of the image is the Archangel St Michael, defeating evil, represented here by the dark, beastly figure. The composition's dynamics reflect the typical features of Baroque art: the figures are in motion, and the dynamic, heroic posture of Michael contrasts sharply with the powerless, annihilating figure of evil below. The painter has worked with fine detail: Michael's face radiates an ethereal calm, while his battle attire - the gilded helmet, armour and red cloak - symbolise heavenly power and victory.<\/p>

A play of colours and light effects<\/p>

Chiaroscuro - the dramatic contrast of light and shadow, a favourite device of the Baroque - is strongly present in the painting. Michael's figure is surrounded by a golden light from behind, as if a celestial ray is lifting him out of the darkness, emphasising his heavenly mission and his triumph over evil. The earthly being whom Michael tramples underfoot appears in darker, more sombre colours, as if part of the realm of shadow, making the contrast even more stark.<\/p>

The historical background and symbolism<\/p>

The symbolism of the original Baroque altarpiece is also worth mentioning. St Michael is the commander of the heavenly hosts, embodying the eternal battle between good and evil, and this image commemorates the moment when divine truth and light triumph. Michael is both a warrior and a protective angel, who serves both as protector of the faith and patron of the Church. The image thus has not only aesthetic value, but also a deep spiritual content.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
