Organist István Ruppert and soprano Krisztina Bognár will give a concert on Saturday 21 November at 7.30 pm at St Michael’s Cathedral in Veszprém. The November instalment of the Várhegy Organ Recitals is linked to the feast day of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of church music and singing.

The Church commemorates Saint Cecilia on 22 November. On the eve of her feast day, two artists with close ties to Győr’s musical life will be visiting Veszprém. István Ruppert, organist at Győr Cathedral, has given concerts in numerous European countries, as well as in Japan, Brazil and the United States. He will be joined by Krisztina Bognár, a singer and private singing teacher at the János Richter Secondary School of Music in Győr.

During the evening, the cathedral’s restored concert organ will be played. The restoration and expansion of the Rieger instrument, originally built in 1910, has resulted in an organ that plays an important role not only in liturgical services but also in the concert scene. The diversity of its sound will be showcased in the various programmes of the Várhegy Organ Evenings series; in November, the audience will be able to hear it accompanied by singing.

Tickets for the concert, priced at 2,500 HUF, can be purchased by clicking here, or at the Biró–Giczey House box office (31 Vár utca, Veszprém). Tickets will also be available to buy at the venue from 7.00 pm on the day of the concert.
