The Veszprém Archdiocesan Tourism Center organized a study tour with the participation of tourism professionals from across the country, with the aim of providing a firsthand look at what the revitalized Veszprém Castle District has to offer and the opportunities it holds.

The participants were welcomed by Enikő Loószné Dömötör, the office manager, who expressed her delight at the strengthening of professional cooperation. She emphasized that the Archdiocese of Veszprém and its institutions offer visitors a rich and diverse range of attractions, providing numerous opportunities for collaboration with tourism partners.

Following this, Valéria Antal, director of the Veszprém Archdiocesan Tourism Center, gave a presentation. In her speech, she highlighted that the development of the castle district is reaching another milestone, as the gardens on the eastern side will also open to visitors starting at Easter. She emphasized that the goal is to create a comprehensive tourist destination where tourists and pilgrims can spend an entire day in a meaningful way.

As he explained, the Major Seminary and the gardens of the Archbishop’s Palace form a continuous promenade, though the latter is only open to the public on special occasions such as Easter. Visitors can not only view exhibitions but also take part in guided walks and wine tastings; moreover, a special treat is the opportunity to request musical pieces—either live or from recordings—performed by organist Tamás Kosóczky.

The program continued with a guided tour: Dr. Veronika Nagy, director of the Blessed Gizella Archdiocesan Collection, led the group on a tour. The special tour concluded in the cellar system beneath the Archbishop’s Palace, where we welcomed the experts for a group lunch.

Lunch was rounded out by a brief wine tasting led by Head Winemaker Antal Benesch, during which participants had the opportunity to sample the wines of the Veszprém Archdiocesan Winery. To conclude the program, guests watched the documentary film titled “A 1,000-Year Legacy,” which showcases the renewal of the castle district and the developments of recent years.

The study tour was not only an excellent opportunity to showcase the area, but also an important step in strengthening professional ties, which could help make Veszprém’s castle district an unmissable destination for an increasing number of visitors.
